Rusty Dreams, heavily backed to win the Listed Raconteur Stakes (1400m), has come along in leaps and bounds and is on the improve after debuting last year.

Rusty Dreams made the perfect start to her race track career after winning first up at Northam and has hardly put a foot wrong in her second campaign of racing.

The Universal Ruler filly has strung together three wins from her past four starts, her only defeat came over 1600m when she charged out in front.

Last start, dropping back to 1400m, she quickly rebounded and atoned as red-hot favourite when she strongly chased down the leader Universal Flair.

Michael Lane says he has been pleasantly surprised by Rusty Dream's development

"She's in really good order," Lane told Tabradio.

"She hasn't gone backwards and I'm happy with her.

"She's settled into the racing mode and is coming along nice.

"She's kept on improving all the time.

"She's a real nice filly."

Rusty Dreams has drawn perfectly in barrier four and will regain the services of Chris Parnham.

The top rider is back on after missing her victory three weeks ago when partnering She's Fit in the South Australian Derby (2500m).

Lane said Parnham has options from the low draw.

"She's been dying for a sit, so I would like to see her with cover, one-one would be nice." Lane said.

"It seems to map that way, but Chris can be where he wants.

"He's got the horse to do it."

Rusty Dreams has been backed into outright favouritism to take out the Raconteur Stakes.

She shared opening favouritism ($4.20) with Vast Art, but has now vaulted to the head of the market at $3.50.

Vast Art and Rear Admiral are on the second line of betting ($4.80). Bonjoy is next at $6 and the only other runner in single figure odds.
