Grinzinger Prince was formerly with Danny O'Brien in Victorian before the Cody Reardon stable took a chance on the former high-priced yearling who scored first-up at Morphettville in April.

"It didn't surprise me, I thought he would measure up in Adelaide,'' Reardon said.

"We bought him online, we only paid $12,000, it's a lot of money for us and not a lot for some.

"He was a $250,000 yearling. We took our time with him, spaced his runs and made sure he was spot on first-up,'' he said.

Grinzinger Prince is marked an $18 chance with tab.com.au and Reardon said if he brings his Adelaide form to Melbourne the horse can be right in the thick of the action late in the race.

"The horse is flying,'' Reardon said.

"His second-up run, he had the run of the race, but he was probably in the wrong part of the track late.

"Third-up he got squashed out the back early, he run the quickest last 600m of the meeting, if he does that on Saturday he'll be on the finish,'' he said.

EXCITING three-year-old Grey River will make an off season Melbourne cameo with trainer Jon O'Connor hoping to be back there in a spring.

Grey River is no stranger to Flemington after running 2nd in the Listed Desirable Stake at Flemington last spring and O'Connor said the filly had come through her three Adelaide Carnival runs in good order.

She finished sixth first-up behind I'mlovin'ya in the Listed Redelva Stakes, fifth behind subsequent Goodwood winner Royal Merchant in the Group 2 Tobin Bronze before she finished a game second in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes behind Snapped.

WILL Clarken and Niki O'Shea have accepted in Melbourne with Silent Surrente chasing three wins in succession while Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle have opted to stay in Adelaide with Tapinforpar.

PETER Jolly has Morvada back at Flemington chasing his 10th career win as he closes in on $1m in prizemoney clashing with the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Manhatten Times who resumed with a good win at Morphettville on Derby Day.

STRATHALBYN father and daughter training combination will chase their first Melbourne winner in partnership with Sghirripa who is chasing three wins in succession.

She lines up against fellow local Press Down who had a hit out at the Murray Bridge trials on Monday after chasing home Goodwood winner Royal Merchant in the Group 2 Tobin Bronze with Callan Murray going over to ride.
