The Inevitable Stamps All-Star Mile Claims

The All-Star Mile is next on the agenda for Tassie pocket rocket The Inevitable with trainer Scott Brunton urging racegoers to vote for his son of Dundeel.

Unbeaten in five starts this preparation, The Inevitable made light work of a quality field taking out the Listed Thomas Lyon Stakes [1400m] at Hobart on Sunday.

Brunton's fifth success in the feature event, The Inevitable easily justified his heavy market support when coasting to the line to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Breaking the track record in the process, Brunton said The Inevitable is everything he has ever dreamed of.

"He's just a champion, he's the one you get out of bed for," Brunton said.

"If anyone tells you they don't do this to be at the top and to find their champion, they are lying to you."

"He's my Group 1 horse, he may never achieve that feat but I can confidently tell you, he is a Group 1 horse."

Adopting his usual position towards the rear of the field, The Inevitable travelled beautifully, just waiting for jockey David Pires to push the button.

"I had a lovely run, I was happy to be sitting three-wide just behind Dark Wanderer, when I got to the 600m, I just popped out wider just to keep him going forward and once we straightened, he just exploded with that incredible finish," Pires said.

"He's only a little horse but he's got such a massive stride and he really covers the ground when you ask him to go, he's got a wicked motor underneath him."

No stranger to a good horse, Brunton said The Inevitable has now surpassed former stable star, Hellova Street.

"Some people might not equate Hellova Street to being a champion but he was a champion to us," Brunton said.

"He wasn't brilliant but he had this constitution and toughness. He would run through a brick wall for you."

"Hellova Street was something special but The Inevitable is him plus class."

A trip back to the mainland is now next for the seven-year-old, though how they get to the All-Star Mile is still being mapped out.

"You don't make any decisions raceday but I think the 10-day back-up is too hard on him, so our plan (if we get in) will probably be to go straight to the All-Star Mile," Brunton said.

"We already know how good he is and I just hope he gets his chance to show everyone on the big stage."
