Weekend wrap: Toeroek's treble, Dodgsons claim KI cup

Jake Toeroek continued his brilliant season in the saddle and put a three win break on his nearest rival in the race for the South Australian Metropolitan Jockey Premiership with a treble at Morphettville on Saturday.

Jake Toeroek got things rolling early winning aboard the Clayton Douglas-trained Accapella Moon before combining with bosses Richard and Chantelle Jolly for a double.

Saskatoon continued his super run since coming to SA making it four wins from his past five starts before stablemate Starts With Hello returned to winning form in the last race on the card.

Toeroek leads reigning John Letts Medallist Barend Vorster in the Premiership, with Vorster landing a double aboard Another Free Glass and Chicago Storm.

AT Kingscote on Saturday former Kangaroo Island local and now Bordertown training duo James and Lisa Dodgson and Hamslette denied Splash Some Cash a third successive KI Cup.

Despite a big drift in betting Hamslette proved too good in the run to the line to give Britney Wong another country cup feature after winning last month's Ceduna Cup.

Nicole Irwin dominated training four winners, Callan Murray taking riding honours with a treble.

Midnight Brawler claimed the inaugural Peninsula Cup on Sunday with a dominant win over Onemore Marshall to set himself up as a leading Port Lincoln Cup contender.

Kayla Crowther had a day out with a riding treble and winning two of the opening three races. Honey Perfection and the heavily backed Roc The Wolf, before Centrefield recorded her eighth win from just 22 starts for trainer Rocky King.

Sheriden Tomlinson also had a double.
