Chris Bieg was lamenting what might have been when Dubenenko flashed home late to finish sixth in last month's $2m Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield after only see clear air when it was too late.

"The goal was always the Blue Diamond as silly as it sounds, given she was maiden at the start of the prep,'' Bieg said.

"But the owner backed my judgement, we needed a little bit of luck, and we didn't get it.

"It was no one's fault it was just one of those runs,'' he said.

After jumping $101 in the Diamond, Dubenenko is a $4.80 second favourite for Saturday feature with Craig Williams riding from ride from a tricky gate. Bieg is confident the ride to 1400m will be ideal.

"This race was ever really on the agenda, but she's come through so well,'' Bieg said.

"She's the sort of horse who can be put anywhere and she needs to be from the barrier.

"Craig said if she's in the same order as the Diamond she's going to be right in the finish. It increases your confidence when someone like Craig is that confident,'' he said.

Bieg is leaning toward chasing another two-year-old feature on his home deck with Diamonds Choice in the Cinderella Stakes at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup Day ahead of running on the Parks on Saturday.

Diamonds Choice was retired from the race on debut and Bieg said it was a mystery to why the filly didn't stretch out.

"We can't pin point anything,'' Bieg said.

"When she wasn't comfortable Ben eased her up out the race, it was the right thing to do, but she came back bucking and carrying on…. we were all scratching our heads.

"It could have been the race day saddle or something, but Teagan (Voorham) rode her in a trial and she went well.

"My gut feel is to run on Monday ahead of Saturday on the Parks,'' he said.
