Back run in March again, Wellington was a top winner last year. Who adds their name to the 2023 Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.

2023 QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE CUP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup is a Group 1 race run under Weight For Age conditions for the sprinters at Sha Tin conducted by Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup is run over 1400m. Since 2006 it was upgraded to Group 1 as part of a Hong Kong Speed Series. It has been moved back a month from 2023.

Horses often run in the Stewards' Cup then drop back in trip to the 1400m.

Five year olds have taken out 9 of the last 13 renewals of the race.

John Moore trained the trifecta in 2017 and has won 5 of the last 8 editions.

Rated one of the best horses in the world, Beauty Generation backed up his Hong Kong Mile win with a win in this race two months later. He'd go on to bigger things after that making it seven wins in a row when winning the race in 2019.

Then in 2020 he overcame a few setbacks in his form to return and win the race for the third year in a row.

The Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup was worth HK$12m in 2023.

The 2022 Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup was won by Wellington from Ka Ying Star and Waikuku.
