- Good priced winners often prevail - seven in a row from 2010 at $10 or greater. It happened again in 2020.
- Schillaci won the 1992 Lightning Stakes, Oakleigh Plate, Newmarket Hcp, lost the Canterbury Stakes on protest and then won The Galaxy.
- Until 2017, three year olds hadn't won for six years but they have a great record overall with 19 wins, including a streak of 12 wins from 19 runnings from 1992 to 2010.
- Shellscrape became the winner in 2010 after Ortensia was disqualified for a positive swab.
- Mares ran first, second and third in the 2020 running.
- It was hard to believe the rise of Shelby Sixtysix as he scored an amazing win in 2022 coming off his continual racing peaks.
- 3yos - Since 1980 there are 16 x 3yo winners with the last being Russian Revolution in 2017.
- The only horse to carry anywhere near 59kg to win The Galaxy in the last 45 years was Mr Tiz (58.5) in 1991. In fact the only horses to win with more than 56.5kg are Luskin Star (57), Mr Tiz (58.5), Schillaci (57), Temple Of Boom (57), Eduardo (57).
