USA's Copper injured at basketball WC

Kahleah Copper is racing the clock to recover from a hip injury for Team USA's semi-final against Canada at the women's basketball World Cup.

Team USA wing Kahleah Copper is in danger of missing the rest of the women's Basketball World Cup after going down with a hip injury in the quarter-final win over Serbia in Sydney.

A WNBA champion and two-time WNBA All-Star, Copper fell in the second quarter on Thursday as the Americans held a slim lead at Qudos Bank Arena.

She played no further part in the 88-55 win and coach Cheryl Reeve said it was "too early to tell" whether Copper would feature again at the World Cup before its conclusion on Saturday afternoon.

"We're getting her some imaging and we'll have information later but certainly not right now," Reeves told reporters.

Team USA have two games remaining as they look to claim a fourth consecutive World Cup title.

They first meet Canada in the semi-final on Friday and then will contest either the gold or bronze medal game the following day.

Guard Kelsey Plum predicted Canada would emulate Serbia's intensity as they looked to cause a semi-final upset.

"Serbia really tested us," she said.

"They played super physical, more physical than we've seen in the whole tournament.

"If (Canada) watch anything of the game, I'm sure they'll do the same thing. As a team, we'll be ready for that."
