Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Canterbury, Orange, Port Macquarie, Cranbourne, Stawell, Sunshine Coast, Mackay, Narrogin and Hobart.
CANTERBURY: RACE 5 @ 8:00 PM
TWILIGHT AFFAIR (4) is a smart mare from the Waterhouse/Bott camp resuming. Ran a gallant second to the smart Roots over 1300m at Warwick Farm on August 31. Looked to have plenty in reserve in a recent trial here on November 29. Hard to hold out. GRACE BAY (5) has a fitness edge over most of these and caught the eye late when second over 1300m at Wyong on December 14. This her pet trip and looks well in with the claim. JASIRI (9) is a lightly raced mare from the Team Hawkes camp who returned from a spell with a fighting win over 1200m at Goulburn on December 16. Up sharply in grade here but not to be underestimated. SUNBORN (3) has needed the two runs back and drops back in grade here after finishing 6th to Sunshine In Paris over 1200m in Bm78 grade at Randwick on December 24. Will race up on the speed and can take a hand in the finish.

ORANGE: RACE 4 @ 3:05 PM
ARIMATHEA (1) looks perfectly placed here third up after running an even seventh over 1100m at Randwick in Highway grade on December 24. Has won third up in the past and has good figures this track and trip. Go close. PRINCESS FACTOR (8) turned in a much better effort when third at Wellington on December 26. Drops in the weights here and no surprise to see her go on with the job now. ZALINI (5) will find this more to her liking after drawing out at her last two outings. Used up from the wide gate when tired late to run fifth over 1000m at Wyong on December 24. Expecting her to make a real race of it today from the inside gate. Value runner. TITAN STAR (2) missed the placings at Beaumont (Newcastle) two runs back then improved when a gritty 3rd over 1200m at Canberra on December 30. Goes well this distance and expected to take a hand in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Arimathea to win.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 2 @ 2:10 PM
EDGE OF REWARD (4) has found one better in all 5 runs this campaign, with most of those in much tougher company than this today. Draws ideally for Koby Jennings who strikes at 24% when riding for Doyle. This is a very suitable race and he looks very, very hard to beat. STREET CANDI (10) ran on strongly to finish 0.2L off the winner at Tuncurry. Second-up and out in trip with Ash Morgan sticking, she looks a definite threat. TYROL (6) wasn't far away last start and has to be included. BENBULBEN (1) has trialled solidly coming into today's assignment and is not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Very keen on Edge Of Reward.
CRANBOURNE: RACE 1 @ 6:15 PM
I'd be shocked if CALVI (1) wasn't winning. He strikes a very thin race and clearly brings the best form, placing at all three runs this time in. Lightly raced, drawn well and rates well clear of these. Will be short. TWINKLEDUST (8) might offer some resistance. She was poor at Yarra Valley last start but her form prior wasn't too bad and she at least has some upside. THINKING MAN (5) has a couple of runs to his name when last in work that would be competitive here but hasn't managed to find that form recently. Chance at his best, but take on trust. SIDING (4) next best in a race where the favourite should prove too good.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 4 @ 7:45 PM
IVAN'S HERO (9) had two starts in his debut campaign, just missing on debut at Sale before a solid effort in a very strong maiden won by Aft Cabin. That looks hot form for this and he should be going close with even luck from the inside. SUIZURO (10) had one run when last in work, just missing at Mornington on heavy ground. Showed promise in two runs before that as well and should be in the finish. BRAND NEW (8) is a gelding by Tivaci on debut for the Peter Moody stable. As mentioned, they are running hot and it may pay to follow any money for him. EL AMIGOS (1) best of the rest.

STAWELL: RACE 9 @ 5:35 PM
ADAMENT (10) found her best at Moe beaten a whisker behind Star Mistress. Draws handy with a 2kg claim and can win for the premier barn racing at peak fitness. FRANCINE (3) has been close up at the provincials her last three in better class and the latest stacks right up. She's fast and gets in well with the 3kg claim. PENTEGRA (1) resumed bet into even-money and took out the 58. Fitter now and is a chance to repeat. THE SUPERINTENDENT (6) is a likely improver from the Hayes barn and is worth a look.
SELECTIONS: Backing Adament to win.
MACKAY: RACE 10 @ 5:10 PM
POLICE (1) resumed with a placing in much stronger and is sharp second-up. Has the winkers on first time and Wiggins for Butler. Fitter is sure to go close. Butler goes on to the resuming EDIFICATION (4) who has switched from the Gold Coast to the perennially in-form Taylor barn. Has the rail and some key gear changes. Has been racing at better level and the late market will tell plenty. ANNAKURI (5) was quickly back on track beaten 1L here second-up. Draws to advantage and is in the mix. FLYING SHAMUS (10) deserved the easy Maiden win and can build on that.
