Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Doomben, Sandown-Lakeside, Belmont Park, Oakbank, Warwick Farm and Canberra.

DOOMBEN: RACE 5 @ 3:19 PM

GHOSTWRITER (3) spanked his rivals second-up then was handy on settling and fought well last time, beaten a head over 1615m at this track. Goes well at this track with a win and three minor placings from four appearances. Leading hope. GOLDEEL (5) has been racing consistently since winning here, last time showing good early dash and holding on well to finish 1.1 lengths back in second over 1500m at Eagle Farm. Record at this journey is impressive with two wins and two placings from five runs and should be in the finish. VALLEY OF DREAMS (2) is racing well, scoring by a nose two back at Ipswich before finishing third last time over 1615m at this track. Sound record at this distance with four wins and six minor placings from 13 runs and is one of the contenders. SAILOR (1) found form last start and got the job done by a head over 1600m at Eagle Farm. Solid claims. SELECTIONS: Ghostwriter has the form on the board. Backing to win.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 5 @ 6:00 PM

THE CLAIMANT (6) was off a long break at the Valley. Never threatened but he stuck on in a fast race won from the front. Can be a perfect race to bring him straight to the boil and now up to his trip and on the bigger track he looks the one. FREEDOM ESCAPE (4) is the danger. Left poorly placed in the run two back but returned to form at the Valley last time and this suits. WESTERN SUN (1) has raced himself back into form and should run well again along with last start winner OCEAN RAIDER (9) who will find this tougher but did it well enough at Geelong to concede a hope here. Can also concede one to BOLD BOURBON (2) who improved second up and can do so again.
SELECTIONS: This is the right race at the right time for The Claimant.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 4:10 PM

THE ADMIRAL (3) was expected to need it here first-up but just missed and is further improved. He's won second-up and can secure the run of the race. In good hands and will take beating. MIDNIGHT MYSTERY (4) resumes and is right up to this at best. Wasn't beaten far resuming with support and she has more up the sleeve. Will settle back and come hard. ZAC LUVS TO FLY (6) won that contest getting back to his best. He'd be a hope holding that form. MAGICAL GEM (2) is racing well and drops back from the mile. Has a chance if things go his way.
SELECTIONS: Backing The Admiral.

OAKBANK: RACE 1 @ 1:40 PM

GMORK (2) had a good blowout fresh up before improving rapidly to finish third at Strathalbyn last start. He has the pole position and should relish the step up in journey for today's' assignment. He will be peaking third up and he is ready to win. POINTLESS PRAISE (5) was third in a tougher maiden field at Morphettville last start and is another that has been crying out for a middle distance. He is the main threat to the top selection. ALWAYS SOMETIMES (1) probably should have won a race by now but he is seldom far away. He has placed twice on this track and does prefer a wet surface. Each-way with conditions to suit. PERPETUAL GRACE (10) might have had an excuse last start but whatever it may have been has not affected her too much as she is lining up with a fortnight of that effort. She gets the blinkers added for the first time and a return to a middle distance can see her bounce back to form quickly. Include.
SELECTIONS: Gmork to win.

WARWICK FARM: RACE 1 @ 2:20 PM

THE ENGLISHMAN (3) returns for team Snowden. Showed promising signs in debut effort when battling on gamely to the line behind the above average Zou Tiger. Fitter for two credible trials in readiness. Bold showing expected. WERE DA YA GET IT (5) gets the blinkers applied first time to help sharpen him up and is also drawn to get the gun run. Hard not to have in numbers. Can also entertain HURACANEVO (7)and MOSCOW NIGHT (9) as live chances.
SELECTIONS: The Englishman to win.

CANBERRA: RACE 5 @ 3:51 PM

VELLA MAGIC (10) has threatened at her last two starts and peaks today. Has switched from the Gardner barn on a 15-day turnaround and will race forward. She sets a decent standard. ALL PROPHET (6) is a former Queenslander who will be better for the two outings for the new barn. She had support in a 50 the latest and endured a tough run first-up prior. Has a Gold Coast placing in the CV and that more than stacks up. BULLEYES (3) trialled well here and then picked up nicely at Goulburn on debut at long odds. Has an awkward gate but will be fitter and Penza is a positive jockey booking. BREAKAWAY WEEK (7) is in a top local barn and has needed the two runs this preparation. Has a handy barrier and quick improvement wouldn't surprise. MISS STALWART (9) debuts for the Olive yard and is likely better than the trial finish suggests. A betting watch.
SELECTIONS: Backing Vella Magic.
