Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Newcastle and Hamilton.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 3 @ 3:05 PM

SHALATIN (8) is still showing signs of greenness when put under pressure and it's that which has probably cost this fellow the win in his last two outings. That habit is more about maturity than ability and after two runs back this prep he is ready to pay the believers. On top. ALIGN THE PLANETS (4) lacked a bit of concentration during his first campaign and was then put aside and gelded. He has improved at each of his two trials leading into this assignment and he will be ready to run a big race. Can win. DEAR JEWEL (13) produced a couple of solid efforts on wet tracks to open her career before being sent for a spell. She looked forward at a recent trial and should improve on a dryer surface. She has a fair bit of upside and merits healthy respect in this even line-up. ALFANO (1) did not get clear until late last start and did well to finish third. He might be looking for more ground now but if he is close enough turning for home then he might have the last say. Include.
SELECTIONS: Shalatin to win.

HAMILTON: RACE 7 @ 1:30 PM

JUST A THEORY (3) belted the Maidens here by 5L heavily-bet and then the money came again and she was just beaten at Geelong. Winning rider Fry is reunited and the mare can bounce back. ROMANY ROCKS (2) comes back from the mile and go on the half-length defeat here two back. Peaks now and respect the barn. BRILLIANT MELODY (5) is in the premier stable and drops back a level. Draws better today and the blinkers come off for the longer sprint. MILLENNIAL GIRL (1) has a big weight but the Warrnambool win in stronger stacks up and the 4kg claim advantages. In the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Just A Theory.
