BEAUMONT (NEWCASTLE): RACE 7 @ 5:30 PM

BOSS SHELBY (3) has been narrowly beaten at his last two starts when being sent out as favourite, He is still on the way up and meets only an average field today. Hard to beat. DRACHENFELS (7) can be a bit hard to follow as he always gets back in his races and needs a good tempo to be set up front for him to be any chance. If the stars align today then he is more than capable of having the last shot at them. Include in all multiples. SHEMAKESASTATEMENT (9) went a promising race fresh up before not showing much at Coonabarabran last time out. She is better than that effort suggests and gets the blinkers back on today. Expect a form reversal. NEVADA SMOKE (11) showed signs of a form return last start when running on late at Port Macquarie to finish sixth. She has a superior draw today and is set to put her hoof in the till. Watch closely.

This looks a nice race for TICKET TO ANYWHERE (2). Has tackled Highways at his last couple, coming unstuck on a heavy track two back then running on well just behind the placegetters last time over 1100m at Randwick. Perfectly placed out to this trip on a nine-day back-up. Big chance with the in-form Clayton Gallagher to pilot. SILVER SCISSORS (7) battled on evenly without threatening when first-up over 1100m here last time out. Will appreciate the extra furlong and drops 3.5kgs with the claim. Sure to be running on powerfully. AVALICIOUS (10) did a good job to lead and hold on for a close third when resuming from a long spell over this trip at Orange a fortnight ago. May be looking for further now but still makes each-way appeal. The undefeated SCOPICS (4) is hard to knock but might not be great value from a very wide gate in this sterner test.
