Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Sandown-Lakeside, Doomben, Warwick Farm, Ascot and Balaklava.

SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 7 @ 6:30 PM

UNUSUAL CULTURE (5) never looked likely at the latest when settling in a rearward position but managed to make solid in-roads in the dash home to finish hot on the winner's heels. Carries more weight this time but should be nearing a peak third-up and Jamie Kah sticks. Hard to beat. CAP DE JOIE (1) returns after a enjoying a successful campaign last time in. Is a fresh winner and is fitter for a soft trial in readiness. Main danger. BOSS QUEEN (6) was unlucky not the get the verdict last start on the Hillside surface when beaten a head. 1/1 at this venue and Damien Oliver sticks. Can play a major role. NICCOLITE (10) closed off strongly to the line at the latest in a blanket finish. Expect her to be climbing over their backs late. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing Unusual Culture to win.

DOOMBEN: RACE 4 @ 3:23 PM

PENTITO (5) has been kept fresh since filling a minor placing at Eagle Farm over 1300m and that followed a closing effort for fourth in the rich Magic Millions QTIS race. Kept up to the mark with a trial win and has found a suitable race. TELEPHONE BOOTH (7) was beaten only 2L fresh and is unbeaten second-up. Owns a strong record at this longer trip. Challenger. ATLANTIC KING (2) was safely held when resuming but the second-up record is very strong with three wins from four attempts. Watch for a much better run. TANKER (3) was a big improver when third last time over 1350m at this track, beaten a long neck. Among the chances.
SELECTIONS: Looks a good assignment for Pentito.

WARWICK FARM: RACE 5 @ 4:05 PM

BON VIVANT (8) looks primed for this rising in trip third up. Two runs back have been good and everything he's done in his career suggests this trip will be ideal. Solid form in group-class 3yo racing over a trip reads very well for this and although he'll get back, he looks to have a class edge. TYMPANIST (3) ran a good race when stepping up sharply to this distance range last start in a similar race. Just needs to hold that level to be in the finish again. KIRKEBY (1) is a last-start winner by a neck over 1800m at Randwick Kensington. He shouldn't have any issues with the extra trip and should be in the finish. ASEAN LEGEND (7) wasn't far off them here last start and did show staying promise in the UK. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Bon Vivant to win, Asean Legend each-way.

ASCOT: RACE 5 @ 5:20 PM

XEMAN'S JAZZ (4) is another decent winning hope for the potent Pike-Williams linkage. He was only beaten 1.2L here at 1500m on resumption and is sure to improve off that. Draws low and will get every chance. SPECIAL SORT (2) is also in good hands and won the Maiden this distance before the spell. Resumed with a nose defeat in stronger when expected to need it. Will likely settle back again but fitter will come hard. ALASKALOT (3) wasn't beaten far in Listed grade before racing favourite here beaten 2.5L. Keeps Chris Parnham and the tongue tie is applied first time. VONSNIP (10) is on a 7-day return and has been racing well without winning. She won't be far away with average luck from the wide barrier.
SELECTIONS: Going with Axeman's Jazz.

BALAKLAVA: RACE 7 @ 5:10 PM

MISS KERMIE (5) resumed in good order and then didn't have the best of it in stronger at The Parks off a wide gate. She has more up her sleeve and won her only third-up outing. Up to the mile suits. COVERED CALL (3) is third-up and keeps the handy 2kg claim. Has an awkward barrier but is on the improve and needs the mile and longer. SEMYORKA (14) spiked his figures beat 1.4L at Gawler and won't be far away on that. Each way. CARRY ON FLYING (2) didn't have the best of it resuming at this distance range. He can settle closer and the tongue tie goes on. Fitter and in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Miss Kermie.
