Racing today is headlined by the Canberra Black Opal Stakes Race Day.  Canberra Profit Pointers

ASCOT: RACE 9 @ 5:15 PM

PLAYHOUSE PATRON (3) is racing in the best form of his career and will have little trouble running out a strong 1800m. Ran right through the line late when came from near last to finish third in the LR Lex Piper Stakes at this track over 1600m on February 25. Will prove hard to hold out. DEMOLISH (4) sat on the speed after working hard from the wide draw when second in the LR Lex Piper Stakes at this track over 1600m. Distance shouldn't be a problem and will be in the firing line for a long way. PLANET CASH (2) is racing well in easier grade and over the shorter trips. Stretches out a further 400m today after scoring a neck win over 1400m at this track on February 11. This a big ask but not to be underestimated. WOZZECK (6) drifted back early and showed enough through the line when fourth over 1600m here on February 25. Racing well this grade and looks good each way value. SELECTIONS: Playhouse Patron to win.

CANBERRA: RACE 4 @ 2:55 PM

Another good contest. JUMEIRAH BEACH (2) resumed heavily-bet seeking the hat-trick and pulled up with an issue. The Sydney-trained galloper is promising and Clark is a key jockey switch. Draws awkwardly but will go close with average luck. LOUIE'S LEGACY (1) is third-up looking to make the hat-trick and gets in well with the 3kg claim. Draws for the run of the race and the local is a live chance. BON FRANKIE (5) was lipped out in the CL3 at Rosehill surprising the market. Was an easy Open winner in the bush prior and despite the awkward barrier shouldn't be underestimated. DREAM INHERIT (6) was a heavily bet CL1 winner here last time and should get the mile. TWIG (4) is another in the mix. SELECTIONS: Going with Jumeirah Beach.

CANBERRA: RACE 6 @ 4:15 PM

A good contest. DISTILLATE (2) is a leader who was beaten 1.5L at Canterbury first-up before winning the 72 at Randwick-Kensington. That's good form and she will run along from the low gate. In good hands and can bring up the double. AKEED (4) was an easy Open winner in the country and has threatened that grade the two since. Has been freshened and Penza is a key jockey switch. Races on speed and tipping he'll be very competitive. SHORES OF AVALON (6) has been busting to win in Opens and did a big job to place here the latest behind the impressive Super Helpful. Has an awkward gate but Dolan sticks and that's a plus. LOOK ONLY (5) was just nudged out in the same contest and lifted her figures again 4-days ago beaten a half-length at Randwick-Kensington in a 72. She's also a hope. SELECTIONS: Backing Distillate.

CLARE: RACE 7 @ 5:00 PM

SAND CAT (7) finished fourth last start over 1215m following a long neck over 1360m when sent out as the favourite. Has a solid record here at the distance with two wins and three placings from seven starts. Rates as one of the main chances. TALES OF CONFLICT (1) has only battled in his last two starts but finds the right field here to return to form. Well worth a second look. HE WILL BOOM (4) went a bold race two starts back to finish second and followed that run up with a solid fourth over 1215m. Has each-way claims. GLACIER GREY (3) resumed from a spell last start to finish sixth over 1200m. Strips fitter and has place prospects. Include in exotic bets. SELECTIONS: Sand Cat to win.

COONAMBLE: RACE 4 @ 2:45 PM

SATAY CHICKEN (4) was an impressive winner fresh at Tamworth and has followed it up with two bold placings. Cherry-ripe now and has leading man Aaron Bullock stick from a better draw. Hard to beat. FIRST SECRET (7) hasn't done a whole lot wrong in her three starts after shedding the maiden tag fresh. Has run well over the track and trip without winning. Can threaten. GIRRAGULANG (2) has been knocking on the door of late but struggles to bust through. Wide alley to contest but is worth keeping safe. CRANKY CREED (6) draws more favourably this time and is worth including on best efforts. SELECTIONS: Backing Satay Chicken to win.

ECHUCA: RACE 8 @ 5:20 PM

CHASETON (6) was as expected on debut at Geelong before being sent around as favourite at his next start at Flemington where he, unfortunately, didn't handle the straight there and couldn't let down. His recent spell would have done him the world of good and he will be primed for a big effort today. ATLANTIS TYCOON (5) did not get all favours when being beaten as a favourite last time out at Pakenham. His fresh up effort prior is a better guide and he should be allowed another chance. PENTEGRA (9) has been freshened since a disappointing run on a soft track at Geelong over a month ago. He is better than that and with a few subtle gear changes, he could show his best again. Include in all multiples. BOLD HOI HO (3) resumes today following a recent trial at Tatura, can figure in the finish. SELECTIONS: Chaseton to win.

STONY CREEK: RACE 5 @ 3:05 PM

MI SCUSI (5) tracked the speed and broke his maiden last start winning by a nose over 1100m in what was his third race day start. Lightly raced and has plenty of scope for improvement. No reason why he can't repeat the dose. KING'S CHAMBER (4) showed good early dash and raced on the speed last start before fading to finish fifth over 1200m at Ballarat. Won well two starts back when sent out as the warm favourite and can add another victory to his record today. TEA MASTER (6) showed some good early speed and led throughout to score easily last time out over 1207m at Kilmore. Big chance here to go back-to-back. RED STILETTO (9) proved too strong two runs back when sent out as the favourite but disappointed last time out when finishing fifth over 1623m. Better than the last effort suggests and is worth another chance. SELECTIONS: Mi Scusi to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:29 PM

JETPACK VERDI (2) had his first start in Australia last time out and fought on doggedly to finish third after a tough run. He will be much better with that effort under his belt and looks to be one of the bets of the day. SILVER GODDESS (4) was a beaten favourite last time out in her first run over a middle distance. She will be peaking third up and is headed for better things. Follow your money. CALLYWAG (14) was only beaten in the shadow of the post at Toowoomba last start and should continue to improve. This is another step up but she is worth including in all multiples. EPIC LOVE (15) knuckled down strongly when finishing 0.7 lengths from the winner at Toowoomba. Can contest for a place. SELECTIONS: Jetpack Verdi to win.
