Morphettville Races Review on 26th February 2023

The Murray Bridge based combination of trainer Mick Huxtable and jockey Jessica Eaton took out the opening race of 1600 metres at Morphettville on Saturday with Disagreeable Miss.

Bringing up her fifth win from eight starts Disagreeable Miss  came from a rearward position with a late run down the middle of the track.

Apprentice Ben Price continued his good success rate when Philonize took out the 1100 metre second race.

Prepared by Dion Koch at Strathalbyn Philonize had no trouble in winning when she led all the way.

Being first up after a spell Arugamama brought up her first win in the 1100 metre third race.

Having the services of jockey Todd Pannell the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained Arugamama  came from a midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages.

Todd Pannell brought up successive wins when Wheels took out the 2000 metre fourth race.

Giving Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas a race to race double Wheels came from last with a strong run in the straight to meet with success.

Apprentice Ben Price landed his second winner when More Sugar took out the 1600 metre fifth race.

Continuing the good run of the joint training partnership of Daniel Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray More Sugar came from a near last position with a long, sustained run to win.

The Ryan Balfour prepared mare Kenyan Wonder brought up her first win in over two years when she took out the 1200 metre sixth race.

Ridden by Campbell Rawiller Kenyan Wonder was seen running on from a rearward position to bring up a strong win.

A stable change from the powerful Godolphin outfit to Phillip Stokes paid off when Shirshov took out the 1050 metre seventh race.

a powerful run over the concluding stages.

Following a good second on the Sandown Hillside track Highland Jakk went one better when he took out the Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes which was run over 2600 metres.

Prepared at Ballarat by Robert Hickmott and having the services of Teo Nugent Highland Jakk was well placed before going on to meet with success.

Teo Nugent brought up the second leg of a running double when he steered Nicajon to a win in the 1200 metre final event.

Prepared at Geelong by Michael Shepherdson Nicajon came from a worse than midfield position to win.
