SYDNEY v FREMANTLE

Saturday 13 May @ SCG

Two teams who were seen as young sides on a huge upward curve are at present clearly not swinging that way as the Swans and Dockers clash for the first time in Sydney for five years.

Goal kicking is often a habit and bad goal kicking is a curse. There is no doubt it costs games and that could well have been the case for Sydney against Collingwood.

6.12, and many gettable, comes back to haunt you and at crucial times like when holding the general sway of a game flow. Being the underdog you have to take advantage of that and they didn't last Sunday.

Even in front after half time, they got no bang for any sort of buck and then it was all one way in the last as the dam wall busted.

They didn't play overly poorly as the Magpies are the team to beat but if they wanted a crucial 4 points they had to be better.

Gulden is so clinical with his left boot and the usual suspects had a go but that defence is undermanned with no Paddy McCartin and Dane Rampe. It is only worse now.

If you are Fremantle you can at least say you got some confidence from not just winning and kicking a score, but converting more regularly.

Sides will continue to put plenty past Hawthorn but Freo was one side you couldn't mark down as guaranteeing them to nail the goals.

It was a rout after Quarter Time and Andrew Brayshaw probably had his best game of the season. If their midfield regains form, it helps the forwards, who while still undersized, would enjoy getting it in fast.

Given the game is in Sydney, you've got to be happy to suggest the Swans win but otherwise there hasn't been much to smile about. It's potentially a season of stalling after the massive leap last year. Tom Hickey back is a key.

One thing is certain. Lance Franklin will get a rather better reception this week than that pathetic pantomime effort from the Collingwood faithful. Watch he doesn't rebound fast.

Match Selection: Sydney by 14 points

Suggested Bets: Lance Franklin 3+ goals @ $2.60
