2023 AFL Round 9 Preview – WEST COAST v GOLD COAST

Racing and Sports will provide analysis of many games in the 2023 AFL Season.

We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.

WEST COAST v GOLD COAST

Friday 12 May @ Optus Stadium

Maybe by playing this off the back of the main Friday night fixture, they are trying to hide it away because the Coastal clash is very shaky.

You have a team that can't play against a team that, external to Suns fans, anecdotally few watch.

West Coast gave a bit of a shout for a half against Richmond in Melbourne which to some extent is a positive. But they couldn't withstand the important part of the game.

Oscar Allen had one of his better matches since his long time off with 4 goals but for the Eagles to be winning they need him doing that AND Darling et al matching it.

It can't all be on Tim Kelly's shoulders and with him being the most obvious main player, teams will try to tag him you'd bet.

As for the Suns they really had a go at home against one of the Flag favs. While they were never in front bar a skerrick at the start, they were also level at ¾ time. It was a case of so close yet so far.

Intercepting ended up a great food source for the Demons so bombing it in and not being able to hold back the tide the other way will need to be addressed. If they clean that up they can win in Perth.

Noah Anderson was excellent again in a very nice start of 2023. He will be one the Eagles are focussed strongly on.

While they have met 15 times and WC has 10 wins you would expect that for a new side. But the interesting part is Gold Coast has won 3 of the last 4 including one at this venue.

More than happy to give them another shout albeit there are no great odds about that. If they score near 100 points it will be enough you'd think.

Match Selection: Gold Coast by 22 points

Suggested Bets: Gold Coast 1-39 @ $2.20
