CARLTON v COLLINGWOOD

Sunday 21 May @ MCG

The old days of a Carlton/Collingwood clash would see a week's worth of banter and antagonism between media types and supporters.

This time around it might be between Club Management and the Football Department of one of them.

Carlton are trying their best to implode off the field and not doing too bad a job of it on the field too. Were it not for that cleansing of the soul out west to the Eagles, it would be a bad spot to be right now.

Anyone can lose but to do it in the manner they have and with the lack of skill shown, when they were perceived a Finals side but six weeks ago, says a lot.

Such poor kicking for goal, decision making and contest. And yet they still managed to hit the front in the last quarter against the Bulldogs.

The usual suspects were getting numbers but even they were not clinical. Set shot goal kicking must be killing them at training because it is awful to watch.

Making that worse is that they have to sit back and admire Collingwood do what they are doing to opponents.

GWS was never a real hope and what that shows is the trust in the group. Consider the Pies are not the ones with multiple Coleman Medal winners this weekend.

But they will have multiple goal kickers that is for sure. A big game could see them struggle without that big man up front but not here you would say.

Though consider this – they've met 262 times and it is 128/130 + 4 draws just in the Pies favour. The last two results garnered that lead.

On any form of normal sensibility you'd say Collingwood are winning this match but normal things don't happen in these games. It's like the Showdown.

The last two have been close – the last one a debacle if you're a Blue.

Match Selection: Collingwood by 24 points

Suggested Bets: Collingwood 1-39 @ $2.25
