Collingwood young gun Nick Daicos should remain eligible for the AFL Brownlow Medal, despite facing scrutiny for his gut punch on Carlton opponent Blake Acres.

Daicos, who leads the AFL coaches' association voting in his second season, clashed with Acres during Sunday's win over the Blues at the MCG.

But at worst the incident should be judged low impact and body contact, meaning Daicos would face no more than a fine and remain eligible for the Brownlow.

Adelaide star Izak Rankine was on Sunday cleared of his match-day report, while Sydney forward Will Hayward will also face no charge for his high-contact incident.

Rankine was booked for his high hit on Bulldog Taylor Duryea on Saturday in Ballarat.

But the match review panel ruled the two players were going for the ball and the contact was reasonable.

Likewise, Hayward faced scrutiny for his high contact with North Melbourne newcomer George Wardlaw at Marvel Stadium.

The verdict concluded the two players jumped from opposite directions to contest the ball and Hayward's actions were not unreasonable.

On Sunday, Hawthorn defender Sam Frost was charged with striking West Coast's Connor West.

Brisbane pair Will Ashcroft and Brandon Starcevich, and Gold Coast opponent Nick Holman, were fined under melee involvement/wrestling after Saturday night's match.
