COLLINGWOOD v NORTH MELBOURNE

Sunday 28 May @ Marvel Stadium

Despite some of the positives that came out of last Saturday, this could be a bit of a thrashing, especially under controlled conditions.

The sugar hit North got from hearing Brett Ratten's voice was helped by playing a Sydney side lacking in total confidence. That won't be the case on Sunday.

Collingwood were superb against their old rivals. Carlton tried so many ways to get the big crowd on their side but could make no impression.

5 goals was the margin but it truly could have been a lot more in terms of the quality. That said Carlton did miss a lot of set shots.

Many have said there needs to be greater attention to Nick Daicos and rightly so. 27 will be about his average possessions for a long while at this rate.

But it let Mitchell, De Goey and Josh Daicos loose. And then there was Darcy Moore. He was like the impenetrable object. No one was getting past him – not even two Coleman Medal winners.

Whoever they put on the park, North will have trouble. They battled bravely and surely should have won. Had it not been for the interchange infringement you'd still think they win. Where they were on the ground cost them but it was their fault.

You had to like the arrival of Wardlaw on top of Sheezel and Scott and Phillips too. There is a foundation but they have to have everyone on deck – and their coach back as well.

If Collingwood want to be ruthless and enjoy themselves this could be a slaughter. Those aren't always easy games but you can smell blood in the water and percentage could be important.
