Western Australia opener Cameron Bancroft feels he's now better equipped to thrive in the Test arena after producing a standout Sheffield Shield campaign.

Bancroft has struck a competition-high 767 runs this season at an average of 63.9 to thrust his name back into the Test spotlight.

The 30-year-old played the last of his 10 Tests in 2019, but there are growing calls for him to be recalled to the Australian side in time for this year's Ashes in England.

With veteran opener David Warner injured and out of form, the door is ajar for Bancroft to work his way back into the XI.

Travis Head is filling in as opener for the injured Warner in India, but the middle-order star isn't viewed as a long-term option at the top of the order.

Bancroft averages just 26.2 in Test cricket, but his form this summer suggests he is primed for success on the international stage if and when he is given another chance.

"I like to think that as the time goes by you improve and learn the lessons from your previous opportunities," Bancroft said on Wednesday.

"I just try to keep that in mind, from previous times I've played for Australia to how you come out and play in Shield cricket and all forms for WA.

"If an opportunity comes hopefully I'm in a better place to play well, but right now the focus is really on WA and we'll see what happens down the track."

Bancroft is determined to help Western Australia claim the Sheffield Shield and one-day titles.

WA will host the one-day final against South Australia on March 8, and they are in the box seat to finish first on the Shield table and host that final as well.

The Warriors take on Tasmania in a Shield clash at the WACA starting from Thursday.
