The Sheffield Shield match between Tasmania and Queensland at Bellerive Oval has come to an early close after both captains agreed a result could not be achieved.

Set a massive 432 to win, Queensland reached 1-184 at tea before the two teams settled for a draw.

Queensland required a further 248 runs off 34 overs to win.

Victoria's win in Western Australia meant Queensland were guaranteed to finish third regardless of the result in Hobart.

Opener Bryce Street scored an unbeaten 102, while Aryan Jain ended on 44 not out as the pair shared a 127-run stand.

It was Street's sixth first-class century in his 32nd match.

Former Test opener Joe Burns was the only wicket to fall, trapped lbw by Lawrence Neil-Smith for 29.
