City's Bos leads PFA A-League Men team of the season

Melbourne City's 20-year-old defender Jordy Bos has been named captain of the Professional Footballers Australia's A-League Men team of the season.

Melbourne City defender Jordy Bos says it's an unexpected honour to be named captain of Professional Footballers Australia's A-League Men team of the season.

The 20-year-old Bos is among six City players in the team, which is selected from player voting.

Striker Jamie Maclaren, Aiden O'Neill, Mathew Leckie, Marco Tilio and Curtis Good are the other City players in a team also featuring five players from their grand final opponent Central Coast.

Mariners Josh Nisbet, Brian Kaltak, Jason Cummings, Marco Tulio and Nectarios Triantis all earnt selection.

Five clubs - City, the Mariners, Western Sydney Wanderers, Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar - had players picked in the 18-man squad comprising a starting XI and seven substitutes.

Bos was awarded the captaincy of the ceremonial team as he received the most votes of any player.

"That's amazing, I wasn't expecting it," Bos said.

"Obviously it's a big honour ... for these boys to vote for me is pretty cool.

"I'm happy with the season I have had so far but we have still got one more game.

"Grand final week is always a bit more nervy and there's excitement around ... but I think it's important to keep a cool head."

The starting XI, picked in 3-4-3 formation, features Adelaide United captain Craig Goodwin, Maclaren and Brandon Borrello from Western Sydney up front.

The midfield comprises Leckie, Wanderers star Calem Nieuwenhof, Josh Nisbet and O'Neill, with a defensive trio of Bos, Kaltak and Western Sydney's Marcelo.

Adelaide's Joe Gauci was named goalkeeper.

The substitutes are Lawrence Thomas (Wanderers), Cummings, Tilio, Jay O'Shea (Brisbane Roar), Tulio, Good and Triantis.
