Pele had been undergoing treatment for colon cancer since 2021 and died of multiple organ failure as a result of the disease. He had struggled with mobility since a 2012 hip operation and had faced depression due to his poor health.

The football world is mourning the loss of Pele, who was known as the standard-bearer of "the beautiful game" and is the only player to have won the World Cup three times.

He played 114 matches with the Brazilian national team, scoring a record 95 goals, including 77 in official matches. His grace and athleticism on the field revolutionized the sport and personified the elegance of Brazilian football.

Pele will be remembered as one of the greatest players in the history of the game, with only Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo being mentioned in the same conversation.
