Jockey Gearoid Brouder has been given a four-year ban for testing positive for a metabolite of cocaine at Gowran Park on 10 May.

The ban is in addition to the 21-day suspension received for his ride aboard the Charles Byrne-trained Ellaat, where the stewards found Brouder guilty of breaching Rule 212 - 'riding of a horse in a race, which deliberately or recklessly causes or permitted a horse to run other than on its merits'.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board released a statement on Monday, which said Brouder would be "suspended for four years with the possibility of the final three years suspended subject to conditions". The ban will begin on Friday 28 July.

Brouder has also previously held a trainer's license, saddling 52 runners over jumps and 2 runners on the flat since 2019. The license was withdrawn for a year (last six months suspended sentence) by the IHRB after Brouder was found guilty of moving his training operation without notifying the authorities. He has not reapplied for a new training license.
