Beauty In Me at Northam and Burnya To Survive at Pinjarra has given Miller cause for optimism after the devastating loss of his stable pin up, Naughty By Nature.

Days out from competing in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), the talented mare suffered serious injuries in a paddock accident and had to be euthanised.

Naughty By Nature won five races and close to half a million dollars in prizemoney with her peak performance in the Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) last June.

"It was hard to take for a few days and it left everyone at the stable feeling down," Miller said.

"It's hard to replace horses with that type of quality, but such is racing you have to move on pretty quickly.

"You have to keep going, you really don't have any other choice but to keep moving forward and working.

"We have a few nice horse coming through and hopefully they can be nearly as good as Naughty By Nature."

Burnya To Survive could be one to fill the void after an impressive last to first victory in a 1200m Pinjarra maiden last Sunday.

First up after a debut third at Geraldton in April, the Bradbury's Luck four-year-old charged home powerfully for Ben Kennedy.

"He won well," Miller said.

"He pulled up jary after Geraldton and we had to tip him out.

"Off his trial and work I was expecting him to race well and touch wood he is sound and back on track.

"He made up a lot of ground and is not fully wound up as yet, so I expect him to improve."

Prized Pursuit and Gambler's Gold are close to resuming after solid Lark Hill trials on Monday.

Prize Pursuit is looking to snap a frustrating run of four placings from six starts last campaign.

The four-year-old has won two trials in readiness for his return.

Gambler's Gold ran on strongly for fourth behind Rakiura in a 950m heat.

The War Chant three-year-old has raced once, a fourth to Trix Of The Trade last July.

"Prize Pursuit went really well and is ready to step out in the next two weeks," Miller said.

"He'll go a lot better than what he did last preparation.

"Gambler's Gold went good as well.

"I only have a team of eight or nine horses, but I'm happy with what is coming through."
