It's been a story of perseverance for Lindsay having spent more than a year out of the saddle following a fall in Darwin where she sustained injuries to her back, a broken nose and damage to her hand, as well as lacerations and bruising.
"It has taken me a while to get here,'' Lindsay said.
"I've had a few mishaps along the way, I just try to remember that everyone's journey is different and it might have taken me a little be longer but I'm excited to be riding on Saturdays.
"It's been a long process but it's nice to see all my hard work and support form trainers come to fruition,'' she said.
Lindsay credited the work behind the scenes from Racing SA's Apprentice Academy Master Briony Moore and Jockey Coach Dean Pettit as a key factor in her making the transition to the metropolitan area.
"Dean and Briony have really supported me and backed me,'' Lindsay said.
"There were a lot of things I needed to work coming back from the Territory, they've been there beside me and encouraging me,'' she said.
Pettit said Lindsay had done the hard yards and deserved the opportunity.
"We're proud of the work Alice has done and she should be really proud of herself,'' Pettitt said.
"We're really excited for her,'' he said.
On the track Lachlan Neindorf enjoyed a busy month riding eight winners across SA.
Neindorf and Ben Price have been prolific in the city during the month enhancing their growing reputations as riders in demand.
Felicity Atkinson boasted the best strike-rate for the month riding at 20 per cent which included winning the opening two-year-old race of the season at Murray Bridge for Chris Bieg when Harleen proved too smart.
Gawler Cup Day was a great day for the youngsters, Neindorf and Ellis Wong riding winners early, Lizzie Annells getting Rock Hard for the Cozamanis stable before Britney Wong out rode her 4kg claim aboard Magic Phantom with young riders winning four the eight races on the card.
That was topped at Penola on October 9 when apprentice riders claimed four of the seven races.
Kristo Sardelic's steady comeback continued as he took his saddle interstate with winners at Pooncarie, St Arnaud and Alice Springs during October.
