John Allen was seen running laps of the inner track between races to ensure he would make the weight before combining with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace to win a second SA Group 1 in seven days after Affaire A Suivre won last week's Oaks.

It also gave Allen the missing Group 1 in Adelaide, having won four SA Derbies, a Goodwood and last week's Oaks.

"I'd knew she'd be strong through the line,'' Allen said.

Ruthless Dame denying what would have been an amazing hometown victory for SA mare Another Award, her second placing bettering a second in last year's feature.

Having just her sixth start, Ruthless Dame settled off a solid tempo before she unleashed a massive run to claim the Sangster.

Maher said it was a typical polished ride from Allen, capping what has been a massive week at Warrnambool.

"Johnny Allen,'' Maher said.

"A beautiful calm ride.

"We thought she'd be able to have the last crack at them.

"The team has done a super job,'' he said.

The James Cummings-trained Zapateo flashed late to run third.

Maher said Ruthless Dame could be back in two weeks' time and take on the boys in the Group 1 Goodwood while Queensland was an option.

"She could come here to a Goodwood, we'll let the dust settle, we can work out where to place her then,'' Maher said.

Likewise Hall of Fame trainer Leon Macdonald said runner-up Another Award could back up and take on the boys in two weeks' time.

"She could go to the Goodwood now,'' Macdonald said.
