The amount of leaders that won on the day screamed blatant track bias towards them and on pacers with such a holding bog affecting many runners. The form is hard to trust from this meeting as a result and the Te Aroha track has been very ordinary for quite a while now alarmingly. Biologist got an unchallenged lead and just coasted along before kicking clear the run home to clock 1:45.18. The race prior saw the leader win too and clock 1:45.84 in a fillies and mares only race, so that was just over three lengths inferior. Wanabefamous ran on strongly once drawn into clear air and is a wet tracker that likes a mile and middle distance. John Gray was as honest as ever but not keeping the winning leader honest in the middle sector did not help his cause as the now 10yo gave it 6kg. Smartly had every chance and Matost plugged on late while Mistaar was ordinary. Swiper The Fox was a complete form reversal when flopping and holding ground blamed by the apprentice rider atop. It showed nothing when the button was pushed the run home and left bettors again scratching their heads with these seemingly daily form reversals of massive margins in New Zealand racing. The last trio home are middle distance wet trackers so had no chance the way race was run and even more so once you factor in the track bias.
