Lay bets are an offering unique to Betfair in Australia where punters can bet AGAINST a particular outcome.

THOROUGHBREDS

Sandown: Race 3; #1 Jewel Bay Down Arrow

You won't find a stronger five-horse BM64 anywhere, it wouldn't surprise me if Akicita, Snow Patrol and Southport Tycoon are all Group horses. I thought the odd one out was Jewel Bay, who fell in first-up in Adelaide and came over to The Valley, had every possible chance and was ok in a bunched finish.

Randwick-Kensington: Race 4; #12 Atlantic Ocean Down Arrow

Gets to a more suitable distance range today but I felt he was well placed at his last couple to perform better than he did.

Murray Bridge: Race 2; #1 Chef Militaire Down Arrow

Chef Militaire is a 16-start maiden but generally always puts in a solid run. Shouldn't be far away in a race like this but has drawn awkwardly and has a poor record at Murray Bridge.

GREYHOUNDS

The Meadows: Race 9; #6 Good Chat Wispy Down Arrow

I have always found Good Chat Wispy very hard to trust. His best is excellent but can put in some bad runs. He is better suited out wide so this should ensure his price stays short enough on the Exchange. However, I could see Zipping Olaf driving him mad off the mat and if he cuts Good Chat Wispy in half early then that may be the end of his winning chances which is enough to justify a lay bet.
