Preview Million Dollar Chase Night -Wentworth Park

The sixth running of the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase the world's richest greyhound race brings together a crackerjack field. The 10 race card will also provide the running of the Group Two Sydney Cup over 720 metres plus The Masters Meteor for greyhounds over 4 years of age and a whopping $100,000 to the winner. With all that in mind. Let's find some winners.

Best Bet Of The Evening - Race 6 Sydney Cup  Black Rug Number 7 - Zipping Vanessa @ $2 with N.S.W TAB

The Group Two Sydney Cup final worth $100,000 brings together a dynamic field of Australia's best half milers. In box 1 is the talented Victorian trained chaser Zoha Bale for Mark Delbridge who is nicely boxed in the red. The ever consistent Ritza Piper also appears here after leading all the way in her heat from box 2 to win in 41.87. She will jump from box 3 in the final.

Our best bet however appears in box 7 - Zipping Vanessa. The superbly bred daughter of Feral Franky was ultra impressive in her 41.54 heat win here last week of the 1 box.

Although she is drawn off the track her record at Wentworth Park speaks for itself with 8 starts for 6 wins and a minor placing over the 720 metres at Wentworth Park.

Ritza Piper jumping from box 3 is more than likely the early leader in this race and I expect Zipping Vanessa to come across and take a sit on the leader and prove too good in the run home. There is even the possibility that if she jumps well enough that she could possibly lead as well.

Zoha Bale would have learnt plenty from his first Wentworth park look , however I expect he will get too far back. With that in mind Zipping Vanessa should be off and gone and adding a Group Two race win to her resume.

Best Each Way Bet Of The Evening Race 5 Masters Meteor Final White Rug Number 3 - Zippy Tesla @ $4 with Sportsbet

Zippy Tesla has in the past been one of Victoria's elite sprinters. He has undeniable track sense and a withering burst that makes him ultra competitive when drawn near the fence.

He won a Group One Silver Chief in Victoria earlier in his career and has been a consistent finalist in many Group and listed races around Australia.

12 of his 19 career wins have been from inside boxes and if he gets a sit on them down the back here he will be rattling late. Although Fernando Hunter is the one to beat Zippy Tesla will make his presence felt.

He moves from an unsuitable box 7 in his heat to box 3 and that move closer to the rails will only help his chances. He definately appeals as a good place bet.

Best Roughie Of The Night Race 8 Million Dollar Chase Final Pink Rug Number 8 - Yachi Bale @ $11 with Sportsbet

It has been hard to miss both his runs to qualify for the big dance. In his heat one more stride would have seen him defeat Bandit Bluey and his heroic come from near last semi win last week had to be seen to be believed.

His heriocs to win The Melbourne Cup will never be forgotten as he came from nowhere to win one of the most prestigious races in Australia.

To put it simply the interference last week in the Semi at the first turn would have stopped most dogs in Australia. But not Yachi Bale.

He may not be the best boxed dog in the final nor have the best first sectional time to the first turn. However he does have the character to chase probably harder than any other runner in the field.

Mark Delbridge his trainer has stated that since winning The Melbourne Cup that his next 20 odd starts have been filled with injury and bad luck. However with each run at Wentworth Park over the last fortnight he has only improved.

He may have the job ahead matching the raw talent of Postman Pat and Jay is Jay yet one thing is certain. If he is two lengths off them swinging for home the whole field is going to know he is there.

For a dog that is a prior Group One winner the $11 fixed odds does seem a juicy price and well worth a throw at the stumps.
