$75,000 on the table again with bet365's Pick 6 Challenge
Leading bookmaker bet365 are putting $75,000 on the line for any logged-in member who correctly selects the winners of six specified races across the Sandown, Randwick and Doomben cards this weekend. There are also consolation prize pools of $10,000 to be split amongst those who tip five winners and $5,000 for those who 'only' pick four.
The six featured races are outlined below with the R&S team providing pre-race previews to give you an early leg-up on the form.
Sandown Race 8 - Tile Importer Handicap @ 3.25pm - 1600m
Trosettee (8) resumed with a very good run in a handy race at Caulfield, beaten half a length by Furious over this trip. Fitter for that, he just needs to overcome the wide draw to be going one better. Hard To Cross (9) is a consistent type who broke through for a tidy win at this track last start. Gets in light at the weights after the claim and should be very competitive again. Hennessy Lad (6) can mix his form but hasn't had the best luck of late and his best figures rate very well in this line-up. Can land in a better spot here. Touristic (5) resumes. He was very consistent without winning last time in against quality opposition. Should be strong late. Jabbawockeez (11) next best.
Randwick Race 9 - PF Civil Equipment Handicap @ 3.45pm - 2000m
Kureder (12) showed staying potential last time in and looks set to peak fourth up. Powered late with the 59kg when a slashing third over 1800m at Hawkesbury on May 4. Will appreciate the Randwick track and look for him late. Speycaster (7) is building a nice win record as he keeps raising the bar, chasing his third-straight win. Saved up for one last crack at them when a tenacious 0.7 len winner over 2200m at Newcastle on May 11. Handles all conditions and up to this. Political Debate (2) stalked the speed and looked the winner 250m out before being swamped late by Fawkner Park when second in the LR Wagga Cup over 2000m on May 3. This is easier and stays in the mix. Golden Path (6) Victorian-trained gelding who stretches out to the 2000m for the first time today. Stuck on well in the conditions when fifth over 1600m in The Coast at Newcastle on May 11. Can run into the minor money.
Doomben Race 9 - XXXX Doomben Cup @ 3.57pm - 2000m
The $1 million Group 1 Doomben Cup. Going a bit wider here with Bois D'Argent (11). Saves his best form for this 2000m journey and will be at peak fitness for this with Shinn now engaged. Eats up the wet conditions and at the juicy each-way quote is worth a place-heavy investment. Kovalica (3) hasn't won for a year but has been plying his trade at the highest level and Nash sticks from the favourable draw. Can finally return to the winner's circle. Detonator Jack (4) only narrowly went down in the Hawkesbury Gold Cup and is usually thereabouts. Top-three contender. Numerian (1) surprised a few winning first-up and the extra furlong suits. In the mix. Huetor (2) is a bit hit or miss but may earn some minor money if he brings his best.
Sandown Race 9 - Thoroughbred Club of Australia Handicap @ 4.05pm - 1400m
Bigolino (12) was first-up off a 10-month spell and gave a huge sight at Caulfield over 1400m, only run down very late by the talented Chorlton Lane. Should strip much fitter for that and draws to land in front again. Le Ferrari (14) comes through the same race behind Chorlton Lane, finishing third and beaten just a neck. He'll be fitter again as well and draws ideally for a soft trail. Goes well second-up and looks a good price. Fancify (16) is a progressive 4yo mare over from SA who measured right up to win well at Caulfield last start. Fitter again and should take beating again. Rheinberg (4) hasn't really fired this time in but has had a couple of excuses. Watch for improvement. Starlight Scope (10) should be ready to peak now out to 1400m.
Randwick Race 10 - Supporterhub Handicap @ 4.25pm - 1400m
Nails Murphy (16) progressive gelding who resumed in good order with the 61.5kg when a tough third over 1400m at Randwick Kensington on April 25. Goes just as well second up and can stalk the solid speed from the good gate. Capable of taking this out. Starman (10) frustrating gelding who gives the indication the 1400m will suit. Ran on late again with the 59kg when a narrow second over 1200m at Newcastle on May 11. Firmer track helps from the good gate again. No excuses here. Silent Impact (8) returned from a lengthy break with a tough on pace second over 1300m at Rosehill on April 27. Second up record is just as strong and has the speed to get across from the wide gate. Has solid top-three claims. Kokoro (17) returned from a let-up with a barnstorming long neck winner over the 1400m at Randwick Kensington on April 25. Races best with his runs spaced and will appreciate the genuine tempo anticipated.
Doomben Race 10 - BRC Sprint @ 4.30pm - 1350m
The $300,000 Group 3 BRC Sprint. Vilana (4) hails from a handy family (half to 5xG2 winner Savatiano) and showed he had come back well with a close-up second behind Mazu in the G3 Hall Mark first-up. Has won two from five when second-up and the 1350m should be in his sweet spot now. Will be hoping the track is cut up by the last and rates a serious contender. The consistent Yellow Brick (12) has only missed a drum once in 13 career starts and rarely lets supporters down. Has to be included. Here To Shock (8) has been in red-hot form this preparation and will be at peak fitness now. Sure to be thereabouts again. Freedom Rally (18) is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and cannot be discounted. Strait Acer (10) has been a great money-spinner for connections and may pick up another cheque.
