WARWICK FARM May 26

Inside Grass; Good 4

16 Heats – 2 x 1207m (2 Open); 4 x 806m (3 Open; 1 2YO); 4 x 801m (4 2YO); 3 x 798m (2 2YO; 1 3YO); 3 x 795m (3 Maiden)

Last start G1 winner RUTHLESS DAME was kept up to the mark with a strong second in her open trial over 806m.

She had the back of the classy BIG PARADE into the straight and worked through nicely underneath him from the 400m with the pair splitting the line together in a strong pointer to the future prospects of both sprinters. They were both working within themselves through the line and could have improved on their heat time (48.53; 34.26).

SOVEREIGN FUND (Peter & Paul Snowden): Set to improve sharply next time he races after two recent below par performances. Settled midfield in his 801m heat before he was taken across the heels of three leaders at the 400m to get clear air and never came off the bit as he cruised past, extending nicely to win in sharp time (47.76; 34.06).

SOUNDS OF HEAVEN (Annabel Neasham): Unraced I Am Invincible filly jumped into the lead in her 798m heat and was eager to run as Chad Schofield kept her under restraint throughout the trial. Had plenty in reserve holding her advantage to the line while running the fastest time of all the 14 short course heats (47.30; 33.83). Has obviously improved since her first three trials early in the season.

SUPER PURSUIT (Richard Collett): Impressive work late in his 806m heat won by COSMIC MINERVA (47.49; 33.65), running through the line in great style just as he did when a strong second in his first-up trial at this course on May 9. He's the winner of five races up to 1300m including two when first-up and looks well prepared to run boldly fresh.

STYDD (James Cummings): Unraced Ribchester filly won her first trial in February and this soft heat win over 795m (48.43; 34.33) indicates that her leading stable has plenty of talent to work with. Travelled easily in the lead and looked very comfortable running to the line with plenty in reserve.

GOSFORD May 26

Course Proper; Soft 5

21 Heats – 11 x 1000m; 10 x 800m

A big session of 21 heats attracted runners from several leading metropolitan stables including the Snowdens and Waterhouse/Bott.

Waterhouse and Bott had a big team of 14 runners and landed four heats with the star being their classy Group winner KIBOU winning the fastest 1000m heat (59.37; 35.05). It was solid progress on his first-up trial win at Hawkesbury after his long recovery from injury as he worked strongly to beat KING'S DUTY and REVOLUTIONARY MISS in a trial that had plenty of depth.

Waterhouse and Bott also won 2YO heats with SURPRISE VALLEY and THE LITTLE PUMPER and a maiden heat with THE REALM.

The Snowdens sent only four horses from Randwick but won 1000m heats with the quality performers RANGES (61.71; 35.17) and SHEEZA BELTER (61.88; 35.87) and the unraced 2YO ZOUPRINCE (62.50; 36.54).

PERENNIAL (Paul Messara): Unraced Mikki Isle youngster recorded his first trial win after two previous placings. Looks ready to go to the races after controlling his 1000m heat (61.97); 36.79) and having plenty in reserve through the line.

AMBERINA (Nathan Doyle): Maiden filly by Lonhro was unplaced in six starts for Mark Newnham but had previously won trials and looks to be a capable prospect for her new trainer. Settled third behind the leaders before peeling three wide from the 500m. Ambled past the leaders at the 200m and coasted home under a soft ride to score by four lengths in good time (61.39; 36.47).
