RANDWICK September 13

Randwick A Grass; Soft 6

13 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 9 x 1050m (4 Open; 5 Maiden); 3 x 742m (1 Open; 2 Maiden)

Dual G1 winner SEPTEMBER RUN produced an encouraging trial that suggests she will again be a player in the big spring sprints.

Her  strong second taking ground late off the free running WAY TO THE STARS in the open heat over 742m (44.24; 33.81) was positive improvement on her recent trial at Canterbury. She may be on the radar for an Everest slot but it's worth noting she hasn't won or placed in Sydney since she won her maiden in 2020, recording her five subsequent wins in Melbourne and Brisbane.

Crack Melbourne 3YO JACQUINOT took the eye in the 1050m open heat won by EXPAT (63.78; 34.50). Hugh Bowman had him last under a good hold at the 600m and only allowed him to run home over the last 100m to finish sixth with his best work through the line in a heat where the majority of the runners were put under pressure over the last 200m.

There were some impressive efforts in other 1050m heats. Lightly-raced mare TYPHOON TAVI looked good winning the fastest heat over the distance (63.29; 34.68) from the front. In the same heat the talented stakes winner DYNASTIES producing one of the best trials of the morning with her big finish from last to finish third.

Sebring filly LADY HARLEM worked well to win her 1050m heat (64.49; 34.82) with STRAY, having her first trial since she ran in the Australasian Oaks in Adelaide in May, hard to miss running home strongly for fourth.

There are plenty of maidens to keep an eye on including STORMY LEGEND, KING OF NAPLES, CALIFORNIA PRESS and MIZMCKEON.

NOTED TRIALS

WARWICK FARM September 9

Inside Grass; Soft 6

16 Heats – 4 x 1215m (2 Open; 2 Maiden); 3 x 818m (3 Open); 3 x 815m (1 Open; 1 3YO; 1 Maiden); 3 x 811m (3 Maiden); 3 x 808m (3 Maiden)

It was good to see several previously noted horses frank their trial form with strong performances.

ANAMOE brought the star power to the session but all he did was go through the motions to finish a soft third in the quickest of the four 1215m heats won by COODARADY (74.94; 34.85). CABOCHE finished a strong second in a good pointer to improvement the next time he goes to the races.

Other 1215m heat winners LACKEEN (75.25; 35.20) and IRON MAN (75.74; 36.44) can be followed under suitable conditions.

The ex-Hong Kong sprinter JOYFUL FORTUNE, noted after he beat Eduardo in a trial at Randwick on August 19, ensurted he will be treated with respect when he has his first start for Mark Newnham after speeding to another sharp win in his 818m heat (48.18; 33.94).

Classy mare WRITTEN BEAUTY won her heat in 818m heat in slower time (49.31; 34.68) after tracking three wide but it was confirmation she has come on well since we noted her eye catching first-up trial last month. WINNING VERSE recorded a smart 815m heat win (47.86; 34.95) with SHOWTIME LADY also impressing with her strong third.

Bjorn Baker won four maiden heats and Annabel Neasham picked up three heat wins with the standout being her promising 3YO ECONOMICS in his 815m heat (47.32; 33.27).

ECONOMICS (Annabel Neasham): This Capitalist colt is primed for good things judging by his impressive work to win his fast 815m heat (47.32) where he put away his last 600m in the quickest sectional of the session (33.27). He had only two starts last season for a win and a second on country tracks and is obviously a colt of much better standard.

INVASIVE (Annabel Neasham): This Invader gelding was placed in two of his five starts last season and is ready to land his maiden in the near future after an impressive win in his 811m heat (47.58; 34.09) over another smart prospect DRESSED TO KILL. Sat second under no pressure until the last 50 metres where he picked up quickly, surging to a soft win by more than a length in a good display of positive ability.

Other maidens to be followed, some previously noted in earlier trials, include ASTERIA, BLACK IRIS, MOTION LEGEND and CENTRESTONE.
