NEWCASTLE November 12

RACE 6 (7) GLOBAL AUSBRED: Should be winning if he goes on from the form he has produced in two strong races since resuming. Ran a huge race first-up to finish fourth in the Silver Eagle (1300m) at Randwick and backed it up with a game second carrying 60kg in a BM78 over 1500m at Rosehill won by exciting prospect Waterford. His three wins from only 10 starts includes a victory over this course and distance and with a 5kg drop in weight to offset the rise to a BM88 expect to see Hugh Bowman dictate the terms of the race from the front.

RACE 8 (6) VILANA: There was plenty of merit in his last start eighth in the Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill as negative tactics saw him taken too far back from barrier 20 and left him with an impossible task over the last 400m. His class shone through in his dominant first-up win in the Silver Eagle (1300m) at Randwick and I expect him to bounce back to that form as he will be suited stalking the genuine speed over this trip from a better draw.

RACE 9 (18) DEMOCRACY MANIFEST: Needs scratchings to gain a start but has the talent to test a strong field carrying the limit weight. He drops 4.5kg off his last start second in a leader dominated race over 1300m at Rosehill when he came from last with a surging finish in fast sectionals and will meet the winner COTEHELE 2kg better on a track that is made for him. The classy topweight WAIHAHA FALLS is an obvious threat but you have to like this gelding's chances with a 7.5kg weight advantage and obvious edge in race fitness.

FOR VALUE

RACE 2 (10) RADIOHEAD: Racing well without luck. Big track will suit.

RACE 7 (6) ROBUSTO: Strong winner at Randwick. Can go on with it.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM November 4: WAY TO THE STARS is airborne and is primed to continue rising through the classes. This last start Warwick Farm winner again showed his abundant natural speed to lead his 797m heat with ease and was never tested to run out a soft 2.75 lengths winner in fast time with an electric last 600m (45.38; 32.27). Everest runner INGRATIATING had an easy time in his open heat over 797m (46.32; 32.62), finishing a soft fourth.

RANDWICK October 28: The open heats over 740m saw a nice effort from the winner WATEGOS (44.61; 33.95). Among maidens with good prospects is the 1050m heat winner ROYAL MERCHANT (63.75; 36.05).

NEWCASTLE October 25: The unraced 2YO BANJETTA has good provincial prospects after recording a strong 900m heat win (56.69).

WARWICK FARM October 18: One to follow from the open heats is the former Kiwi SUPER STRIKE, a 6YO with five wins from only nine starts. He's been off the scene for some 20 months but is ready to perform after two recent Sydney trials for Richard Collett with a lot to like about the way he worked to the line for second in his 824m heat (49.75; 34.49).
