MAGIC TIME

RACE 1: (1) OSIPENKO rates to win back to his own age. You have to trust he can step up to 2000m off his solid Doncaster sixth when beaten two lengths. (3) PERICLES suited back to 2000m from his struggling Derby effort on a testing heavy track. Likely to roll forward with (4) MY TRUTH in a slow race. (6) AIN'T HE GRAND is the value chance - Tulloch Stakes is proving a strong form race.

RACE 2:  Favourite (15) REMLAPS COMMANDER rated on potential off an impressive C1 win at Newcastle but has a horror barrier draw and other market players 2, 3 and 5 are out there with him. Prefer to play with those better drawn – (8) PREEEMPTORY has good Highway form and (4) BARRADAS is fitter for a good first up placing. 13 and 11 are others who can run well at nice odds.

RACE 3 (5) FLOATING gets a big riding switch to James McDonald after going under by a nose when first-up over 1400m at Warwick Farm. Sure to have taken benefit from the run, he likes soft ground and the bigger Randwick track where has been placed at his only start suits his style. (6) MISS EINSTEIN is well placed on her best form but there are plenty of other options for the exotics – 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 18.

RACE 4: Sticking with the impressive Melbourne filly (1) MAGIC TIME to stay unbeaten after her classy win in the G3 PJ Bell when she overcame a luckless passage in her first look at Randwick. (3) OPAL RIDGE was within a length of her at the 200m but MAGIC TIME easily extended the margin to 2.4 lengths at the finish after showing classy acceleration to sprint through the line in the heavy going. OPAL RIDGE is a course and distance winner and the extra 200m suits with a 1kg weight swing in her favour. (7) SUMATRA should have finished closer in the PJ Bell, include for value. 2 (good trial) and 8 next best.

RACE 5: (6) COAL CRUSHER is ready to peak after being nailed late in the G3 Star Kingdom (1100m) but faces the classy Godolphin trio (1) VILANA, Star Kingdom winner (3) BACCHANALIA and course specialist (5) GRAVINA. COAL CRUSHER gets blinkers on and will look to dictate from the front, making him hard to run down. Strong trials point to VILANA running close to his best fresh as he goes well for Nash Rawiller. GRAVINA returns off a seven weeks freshen and two trials. He loves Randwick and soft ground – everything in his favour with McDonald on board. BACCHANALIA is flying but a 5kg weight rise will test. Luckless (10) KEY LARGO had other options. Taking this on shows confidence as he meets Coal Crusher 4kg worse.

RACE 6: Tough race will throw up plenty of value. First emergency (15) QUALITY TIME is set to run well at nice odds after two strong lead-ups in Victoria. Likes his chance on the limit weight as he steps up to his best distance on a favourable soft track. (7) DIAMIL is another up in trip and close to his peak third up and (13) BOIS D'ARGENT can improve sharply off his first-up fifth at Moonee Valley. (1) HUETOR can win despite his big weight – likes Randwick and meets (2) SUNRISE RISING 2kg better from their last meeting at Rosehill. (4) PROTAGONIST tested under 58kg but will be popular back in class from his Doncaster failure in the heavy. Include 6, 11 and 14 in exotics.

RACE 7: (2) MILITARIZE was a shock G1 winner two weeks ago when he mastered the heavy over 1400m but no luxury odds about him this time as he only has to hold that form to complete the Sires Produce-Champagne Stakes double. His impressive win rated up with the best 2YO performances of the season and among the highest rating Sires Produce wins of recent years, the feature being his powerful last 200m in fast time for the conditions. (1) DON CORLEONE will appreciate 1600m but faces a test to make up 3.5 lengths under the same weight scale. He is playing for second again with last week's Fernhill winner (4) TOM KITTEN, (6) MAKE A CALL and (11) PIER PRESSURE.

RACE 8: The All Aged Stakes presents a real test for the top class 3YOs (12) GIGA KICK and (11) JACQUINOT against a deep squad of older rivals boasting terrific Randwick records. It's GIGA KICK's first try beyond 1200m but his sectionals in his past Randwick performances in the Everest and TJ Smith give you confidence he will sprint home strongly over the extra 200m. JACQUINOT is unbeaten in his two 1400m starts and a lovely trial has him primed to bounce back from his Australian Guineas flop over 1600m. Australian Cup winner (4) CASCADIAN drops back from 2000m but he won this race last year and is so versatile that he could easily run home over the top of them if they burn through the first half. (5) MAZU ran to his best when favoured by the heavy conditions in the TJ Smith. Rates highly but is another facing 1400m for the time. (1) ZAAKI had had interruptions and as good as he has been when fresh in the past his recent soft trial suggests he will take benefit from this run. (3) PRIVATE EYE is another Randwick specialist who could easily turn around his TJ Smith failure on a better surface. The Japanese raider (7) HO O AMAZON is a big query and should be the one to put pace into the race. No 1400m wins but is two from two on affected tracks.

RACE 9: (12) TAMERLANE is often maligned but he's never gone better and is well placed to go back to back after his easy win over this trip at Rosehill when second up. Drops 3kg off that win with Zac Lloyd's allowance and it's hard to knock his Randwick record where he boasts two wins. (16) COTEHELE is another well in with the benefit of a claim for Reece Jones. Flies when fresh and looks ready off a super trial win. Canberra-trained (13) HANDLE THE TRUTH is fitter and another well placed – he's a must inclusion at value odds. 3, 5 and 6 all rate well but face a challenge under higher weights from awkward gates. Dual acceptor (17) SUBSTANTIAL is in the mix if this selected.

RACE 10: The import (11) SUBSTANTIAL was heavily supported when making his local debut at Rosehill but not much went right for him. He landed here with a good UK record and top Randwick stable has him well placed to improve from a soft draw. Big respect for the talented (9) DEMOCRACY MANIFEST first-up. He's won three times when fresh and easy trials have him set to unleash his big finishing sprint. 1 and 2 are fast runners with the right form but they are up in the weights without claims. Include 4 (blinkers back on), 12 and 15 in the exotics.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK April 3 (Poly): Annabel Neasham is obviously preparing ZAAKI for the Brisbane carnival with his fourth in an open heat over 1080m a solid start. He covered the most ground sitting three and four deep with James McDonald allowing him to work easily to the line under little pressure. JACQUINOT was given time to find his legs in his 1080m heat before working home stylishly for a strong second under another soft ride from McDonald. The trial will bring him on nicely after a month since his last race in Melbourne. A lovely win by smart 4YO gelding COTEHELE in his first trial since December. Had company for the lead in his 1080m heat but kept rolling under a kind ride and was unextended to post the fastest time in the 1080m heats, running quick closing sectionals. (62.71; 32.85).

RANDWICK March 21: BUNKER HUT took the eye making up several lengths quickly over the last 100m to finish second in a strong 1045m heat (62.66; 34.64) behind classy mare Passive Aggressive.
