Patinack Supports Capricornia Sale

The national appeal of the annual Central Queensland Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Capricornia Sale to be held in Rockhampton on April 1 has been lifted by the support of Nathan Tinkler's burgeoning Patinack Farm empire as a vendor.

Patinack has the biggest draft in the 75 lot catalogue with a total of 14 yearlings by the stud's young foundation sires Husson, Wonderful World and Murtajill.

Husson and Wonderful World have first crop 2-year-olds racing this season and the oldest by Murtajill are yearlings.

Husson, currently second to another Patinack sire Casino Prince on the first season sires list, has one lot.

Wonderful World supplies eight yearlings and Murtajill has seven.

One of the youngsters by Wonderful World is from Carmina Burana, a half-sister to the champion Might And Power and to the grandam of current super filly Mosheen.

One of the stud's Murtajill yearlings is a colt that is the first foal of Magical Holiday, an Encosta de Lago mare out of a daughter of Danehill from the outstanding Denise's Joy family.

The Patinack yearlings were bred at their headquarters in the Hunter Valley and are eligible for the NSW BOBS incentive scheme.

The Capriornia Sale had its record as a source of winners enhanced with a double in juvenile events at Rockhampton last week.

The winners were Maximum Command, a representative of the first crop of the young Commands stallion Court Command, and Hidden Prayer, a $12,000 buy at Rockhampton by prominent Danehill sire Hidden Dragon.

Hidden Prayer was presented at the sale by local farm Laurel Glen Equine Centre, the source of two of the three Hidden Dragon yearlings available this year.

They are a filly first foal from Pretty To Watch, a half-sister to Brisbane winner and stakes placed Bella Heart, and a colt from Satellite Girl, dam of Let it Hail, a winner of 10 races to1300m.

Laurel Glen are also offering an Excites filly who is a half-sister to five winners, including the Bellotto filly La Peche, a three-quarter sister to Black Opal Stakes winner Fraud.

The other Hidden Dragon yearling is a filly from Maredamah, a winner twice and placed in Brisbane.

Maredamah is by Marechal, a Danzero stakes winner who is the maternal grandsire so far of only one runner, the Top Echelon winner Little Miss Eva.

Now standing at Orange in NSW, Marechal has three yearlings in the Capricornia catalogue.

One of them is a half-brother to the winners Two Bits and Mister Tips, the only runners from the Vettori mare Loubeth.

The sale in the past has produced Aspiran 14 wins, $245,000), River Lad (6 wins, $215,000), Kai Chow (7 wins, $159,000), Bonny The Viper (4 wins, $121,275), Alesprit (4 wins, $106,800), Kilwinning Option (6 wins, $115,100) and Pegunny Roy (7 wins, $115,500).
