Summerhill Stud Back On Top In South Africa

Summerhill Stud has regained the title of South Africa’s champion breeders for the recently concluded 2015-2016 racing season.

The KZN showpiece farm claimed the title for a staggering tenth time after finishing runner up to Klawervlei Stud for the past two seasons.

Summerhill Stud were represented by 383 runners during the past season for 152 winners of 230 races, amassing an impressive total of R21 027 712.

Among the top class runners to represent Summerhill during the 2015-2016 season were G1 Daily News 2000 winner Rabada, G2 Gold Bowl winner Arch Rival, G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun, G3 Track And Ball Oaks winner Intergalactic and KZN Breeders Million Mile hero No Worries.

Summerhill won the title from Klawervlei Stud with Lammerskraal Stud in third place ahead of Maine Chance Farms and Highlands Farm.

Lammerskraal Stud put up a stunning performance during the last season.

The farm had nearly 300 fewer runners than Summerhill but still managed to finish third by picking up 12 feature races and banking an impressive R12 416 450.
