Wave Back For Pacing Cup

Reigning Nullarbor and Retravision-Fremantle Cup winner Catch A Wave is set to return to Perth for November’s TABtouch-WA Pacing Cup (2536m).

Trainer Andy Gath confirmed the news to Thetrotscomau X platform he had plans to make another trip to Perth with his stable star, following a successful first trip last month.

Gath said the trip west appealed to him more than an Inter Dominion campaign and hoped to be on the charter flight with east coast thoroughbreds on their way for the Pinnacles.

"I think the WA Cup is three weeks before the Inter Dominion," he said.

"We will probably bypass the Inter Dominion and just head for the WA Cup.

"The Railway Stakes is on at the same time so there will be a charter flight and I'll be able to get him there and get him home."

Meanwhile, trainer Ryan Bell is hopeful Nullarbor placegetter Swingband will be fit to tackle November's Pacing Cup, after he sustained a setback in his unplaced Fremantle Cup performance.

Bell said the five-year-old would have three months off to give him the best chance to be ready for the $450,000 feature.
