Zippit to make plenty of noise in Perth

Trainer Jason Grimson is bullish Nullarbor contender Betterzippit will round out his preparation for his Perth trip in winning style when he lines up in Saturday’s CPE Tree Services Pace (1609m) at Menangle.

Betterzippit, who will represent TABtouch in the $1 million event, has a tricky assignment ahead of him from barrier nine this week and comes up against consistent performers Mach Shard, Alta Orlando and Fire Fox.

Despite the draw, Jason Grimson said he was bullish Betterzippit would head to Perth in winning form.

"I've got him screwed down and he's ready to rock and roll," Grimson told TABradio.

"You'll see the best of him.

"I can't see him getting beat, to be honest."

Betterzippit, who was locked away in TABtouch's slot earlier this month, is the $2.05 favourite for this weekend's event at Menangle, while Mach Shard and Alta Orlando are both $6 chances.

The gelding will travel to Perth on Monday with fellow Nullarbor and Quokka aspirants.

Grimson said he was confident Betterzippit would handle the travel to Perth well.

"I'm pretty confident he will settle in," he said.

"We probably won't do too much.

"We might take him to Gloucester Park for a look around but he will be pretty screwed down for The Nullarbor."

The five-year-old is one of seven runners confirmed for The Nullarbor and is rated a $7 chance with TABtouch.

In other Nullarbor news, Swandoo Harness Racing has locked in Loyalist for their slot in the feature event.

Loyalist joins Jumpingjackmac, Magnificent Storm, Lavra Joe, Spirit Of St Louis, Betterzippit and Diego in the field for The Nullarbor.

Loyalist finished third behind Betterzippit at Menangle earlier this month.
