Trent Wheeler continues successful country run with 5 winners over the weekend

Trent Wheeler is edging his way closer to 500 driving wins, with the 38-year-old currently sitting on 450 career wins.

Friday night's meeting at Northam was a big contributor, with Trent Wheeler walking away with a treble on the night.

Rox The World kicked off the festivities, with the Peter Anderson trained two-year-old bringing up his first win at start four. The son of ill-fated WA stallion Rock N Roll World USA started as the $1.65 favourite went on to win by 4m in the opener, with a winning mile rate of 2:03:7 over the 2190m trip.

Favourite punters would have been feeling a little nervous throughout the sixth event, with Gee Smith over racing at the front of the field, but with the others all having to chase, the six-year-old managed to cling to the win with a short-half-head margin on the line. Trained by Matt Scott, the win gave Wheeler his second win on the night, with Gee Smith breaking a 37-start losing sequence and an almost 10-month hiatus from the winner's circle.

Wheeler closed the meeting with a win, with the third and final instalment of his driving treble on board the Hayden Reeves trained Immachulate. The five-year-old maiden broke through for her first win after 28 failed attempts previously, with Wheeler settling behind the leader throughout over the 2190m journey, with the pair making their run on the home straight, claiming race 8 on the card by 6.4m in 2:05:2.

Wheeler continued his good form with a driving double the following night at Narrogin, with Observation getting the win in the opener for Maryann White, as well as Dreams Of Valhalla taking out the last on the card for owner and race caller on the night Matt Young.

Other winners on the night included Major Overs who has been knocking on the door at his previous five starts. coming off a last start second at Gloucester Park just three days earlier, the Debra Lewis trained three-year-old lead all the way in race two, giving Shane Young the first win of his driving double on the night.

Maryann White prepared Kaden Elliott's last winner just two weeks ago when the pair took out the Eric Elliott memorial with Brewery Lane, but it was Boston Rob that gave them the winning feeling this week after the $2.80 favourite lead all the way from barrier one.

Heading to White's stables just six starts ago, he started his campaign with her with a second placing, but Friday night gave them their first win together when he went on to win comfortably over the 1780m sprint trip at Northam in 2:02:4.

Kym Neal made the trek to Northam on Friday night, and it was well worth the drive with Hes Royal Blue taking out race four on the card. Driven by Donald Harper, the $2.35 favourite led all the way from barrier five, bringing up the nine-year-olds ninth career win at start 81.

Ian Foley and Ryan Warwick got the win in race five, with Dame Valour leading all the way. It was another victory for favourite punters with the $1.70 shot never looking in any danger, continuing her impressive form to claim her fifth win in just 12 starts, with the four-year-old only failing to finish in the top two just once in her racing career.

Zuede took out race seven on the card, with the four-year-old son of local sire Fly Like An Eagle coming from behind to win by 2.7m in 2:01:7 over the 1780m trip for Warren Robinson and Aldo Cortopassi.

Racing at Burwood Park returns this Friday, July 14.
