One lucky Newcastle Mile patron set to be happy as Larry!

NEWCASTLE HRC | There's more to this year's AVE Technologies Newcastle Mile at Newcastle Harness Racing Club (NHRC) than great racing, free concerts and family entertainment – one lucky patron is set to go home 'happy as Larry' on Friday 23 February.

So who's 'Larry'?

Larry – is the affectionate name of champion pacer Leap To Fame who set to line up in Friday's $100,000 Newcastle Mile chasing automatic qualification into the $1miliion Miracle Mile at Menangle if he wins.

The Queensland pacing sensation has won nine races in-a-row, including the prestigious Inter Dominion and the $500,000 Hunter Cup.

Trainer-driver Grant Dixon has made no secret of the fact that connections are looking to create history by winning the big one at Menangle on Saturday March 9.

Passionate owners Kevin and Kay Seymour are excited by the massive interest  Larry is attracting and hope to leverage off this a renewed enthusiasm for and engagement in the sport of harness racing.

In addition to the $1000 Cash Sweepstakes competition conducted by the Newcastle Harness Racing Club on the feature night raising money for the John Hunter Children's Hospital Kids Club, -in an exciting announcement the Seymour's will add a bonus of a five per cent share of Larry's prizemoney if he wins the race to the winner of the sweepstakes competition.

Furthermore, they have pledged a further five per cent share to the charity partner John Hunter Children's Hospital Kids Club to provide resources and equipment for sick children in the Hunter Region.

So let's all get behind 'Larry' in the Newcastle Mile!
