It's easy to see why Fantaisie was sent off favourite for this Class A mounted affair having won her last three outings. This included a comfortable success in the same grade at Cabourg in July and she looks to have returned in top order ahead of the winter months. The Nicolas Bridault-trained mare likes to be prominent throughout and jockey Francois Lagadeuc wasted no time in sending her straight into the lead. It was from there the pair were allowed to dictate matters out in front and the writing was on the wall as they kicked clear rounding the final turn, eventually running out emphatic winners. A winner of the G2 Prix du Calvados here in January she's already proven to be a top-class mare but there's certainly a suspicion G1 success could be on the cards. The victory was her fifth win over course and distance from just seven starts and enhanced an already exceptional strike-rate when racing unshod. There could be plenty more to come from this daughter of Un Mec d'Héripré this season and although future plans seem undecided, a step back up to group company looks imminent. |
