Almond Eye  landed the fillies' triple crown and Japan Cup as a three-year-old last season before making a winning return to action in the Dubai Turf in March. She could only finish third behind Indy Champ in the Yasuda Kinen but returned to her scintillating best in the Tenno Sho in October. 

The four-year-old missed the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin earlier this month due to a high temperature but is on target for the Grade 1 Arima Kinen after pleasing trainer Sakae Kunieda at Miho Training Centre.

Kunieda said: "We couldn't send her to Hong Kong but she's been in very good form since. I'm slightly worried about the course but Christophe [Lemaire] doesn't have any concerns.

"She won over 1m4f in the Japan Cup and the Oaks, so the trip should be no problem. She relaxes well in a race. Everyone wants to see her run and I hope we can enjoy the event," he added. 

Lemaire added: "She seems in good form and is ready to run and has got her ideal conditions. This is her first race at Nakayama but it's not a problem and she should win if she's at her best."
