Of those 12 races, the feature is a B1B2 over 2000m where Cosmo Farnese will be chasing a hat-trick of wins.

Ohi: Race 7; #1 Sarcelles

Sarcelles lines up in this following a strong win at this course and distance in her stable debut for trainer Kenji Sano. Got the drop on the leaders there from barrier 1 and was too strong late, recording a half length success. The daughter of Espoir City has again drawn barrier 1 so maps to do something similar under the guidance of Takayuki Yano who stays aboard. Looks to have the perfect combination of form and fitness for this contest with one of her anticipated main rivals in Guillermo resuming after a 108 day break.

Ohi: Race 10; #2 Makoto Gokotai

Makoto Gokotai returns to the Morishita stable three months after a strong victory over 1200m at Mombetsu while under the care of Hideki Kakugawa. Commenced his career with the Morishita stable where he won four of his first six starts, all at this course. Ultra consistent and has a good first up record. Has been getting back and running on in his races however from barrier 2, you'd think Masashige Honda will position the son of Leontes a bit more prominent. The race has some depth to it with the likes of Jun Yuko, Kyowa Savior, Two Punks and It's So Rad all possessing winning claims. With that in mind, Makoto Gokotai will likely have to battle for favouritism.

Ohi: Race 11; #7 Cosmo Farnese

Cosmo Farnese comes here chasing a hat-trick of wins. Was thrown in the deep end at the end of last campaign contesting races such as the Japan Dirt Derby where he was simply outclassed. Has looked in his element this campaign and strikes what shapes as another suitable race on paper. A number of rivals in this are struggling for form or like Cielo Faith, were beaten by Cosmo Farnese in their latest outings. Sugino Majesty is of some interest as a potential value runner with Taito Mori taking the ride however overall, it appears as if all Cosmo Farnese must do in this contest is hold his form. Shapes as the best bet on the program at Ohi today.

Nagoya: Race 2; #6 Providencia

Full sister to JRA winner Gratitud, Providencia makes her stable debut after a mixed start to her career which commenced at JRA level. Struggled to beat a runner home in her first two starts however there were signs the penny was beginning to drop when running second at Kanazawa late last year. Now comes to trainer Hiroshi Sasano who enjoys a 27.9% win rate with tried horses making their stable debut. Takes on six rivals, of which, only one (Azure) possesses a career win with all others being maidens after ten or more starts. That said, they have all shown glimpses of promise which could assist in obtaining respectable odds about this anticipated favourite.
