Future superstar Covey continues winning ways with Silver Bowl success at Haydock.

Covey, the exciting 3-year-old son of Frankel looked a really progressive type before today, having won impressively his past two starts. He was stepped up in class this afternoon with Frankie Dettori taking the ride, and proved he was a class above the rest in emphatic style.

He was targeted at this race by the Gosden team having won at both Newmarket and Newcastle with ease. It was a tougher challenge set today however, but one he rose to nevertheless, giving Frankie Dettori further success in the saddle, in what could be another successful afternoon on his farewell tour.

The race itself saw Dettori take his mount to the front from the start, setting a good gallop. Turning for home Frankie looked confident, with many of his rivals off the bridle passing the 3fl marker. With 2 furlongs to go, Dettori decided it was time to loosen his reigns and let Covey show what he's capable of, quickening away from the field in fine fashion, extending his advantage over the field all the way to the line.

Speaking to ITV after the race, Dettori said: "He's a horse who is learning all the time".

He added it was the plan to make the running, and was more than impressed with the response he received from his mount when he asked him to quicken.

Dettori stated after the race, the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot is the likely next step for the 3-year-old, who looks an exciting prospect for the Gosden team.
