Prospective buyers at Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up and Horses In Training Sale will be looking to emulate the success of Richard Fahey and Middleham Park Racing, who bought the subsequent Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye heroine The Platinum Queen at the 2022 sale for 57,000 guineas. The filly was sold for 1,200,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale, making the endeavour significantly profitable for all parties.

We pick out the top five lots to watch out for in the breeze-up section of the sale:

Lot 162 – Too Darn Hot x Patronising (Galileo)

This bay colt by first-season sire Too Darn Hot hails from a traditional Coolmore dam-line and could be an exciting prospect. His unraced dam Patronising is a half-sister to three Black Type performers including Group 1 Coronation Stakes winner Lillie Langtry. Lillie Langtry has proven to be an exceptional broodmare, producing Champion 2 & 3 Year Old Filly Minding, Group 1 Epsom Oaks heroine Tuesday and Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Empress Josephine. Although yet to produce a Black Type performer, Too Darn Hot is arguably her most significant mating.

Lot 165 – Inns of Court x Peronism (Street Cry)

Consigned by Tally-Ho Stud, this bay filly could be an attractive option for those with a moderate budget.  There is plenty of Black Type on offer on the page and her half-sister by Mehmas fetched 45,000 guineas at this sale twelve months ago. The dam Peronism is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winning Lord North.

Lot 190 – Almanzor x Rue Cambon (Exceed and Excel)

Overseas sires are well-represented at the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-Up Sale and this Almanzor colt could be of interest to international buyers. Although yet to produce a winner, dam Rue Cambon (Exceed and Excel) is a full-sister to Group 2 Casino Baden Baden Goldene Peitsche winner Royal Intervention and a half-sister to Gorella (Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes) and Porto Santo (Listed Prix Omnium).

Lot 255 – The Factor x Box Office Queen

American-based sired The Factor may be an unfamiliar name to many but his record in the USA has been solid with Grade 1 winners Noted and Quoted and Cistron flying the flag. The colt is a similar stamp to his sire and is out of Box Office Queen (Pulpit) who has produced four individual winners, including King Mauro, a twelve-time victor in the USA. He holds entries in the 2024 Swedish Derby and Oaks Series.

Lot 357 – Ten Sovereigns x Leala (Montjeu)

Originally destined for the Craven Breeze-Up Sale, this bay colt could add to Ten Sovereign's growing tally as a likely prospect for juvenile sprints. The unraced dam Leala (Montjeu) comes from an American bloodline jam-packed with Black Type and has already produced Breeder's Cup Turf Sprint (G1) winner Obviously (Choisir), who recorded numerous Graded wins in the USA.
