The grey gelding sprung a surprise in the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby when defeating last year's King George VI Chase winner Bravemansgame by nearly two lengths. Although many cited the advantage of race fitness for the success, the seven-year-old remains unexposed and the Charlie Hall victory marked only his third outing over fences.

Trained by Mouse Morris in Ireland, the gelding finished a good third in the Grade 1 Champion Stayers' Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival in April 2022 before defeating subsequent Irish Grand National and Drinmore Novice Chase hero I Am Maximus on chase debut at Leopardstown in December of the same year.

Returning after a near-year-long absence, Gentlemansgameran well in defeat when second in the Grade 2 PWC Champion Chase behind Easy Game before his Charlie Hall victory.

Mouse Morris confirmed the Savills Chase as the gelding's next outing, saying: "He's very well, he came out of Wetherby with not a bother on him, thankfully.

"It was great to see him do that given how inexperienced he is.

"He'll be going to Leopardstown at Christmas for the Savills, all being well."

Gentlemansgame is currently fourth favourite for Leopardstown's Savills Chase, widely available at 9/2.
