Jamie Osborne will "roll the dice" and allow Toast Of New York to run in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on November 1.

The Upper Lambourn handler accepts the colt must overcome the issue of not yet having competed on a dirt surface, but has been fuelled by optimism following his fine effort at Del Mar on August 24.

Toast Of New York finished an excellent second behind Shared Belief in the mile-and-a-quarter Pacific Classic, in which the venerable Game On Dude was fourth.

Should things go to plan at Santa Anita, this year's UAE Derby winner will return to Meydan next March for the Dubai World Cup.

Osborne told At The Races: "That (Breeders' Cup Classic) poses a lot of questions, but they are questions that need answering.

"People who know more about dirt racing than I do say he's got the physique and action of a dirt horse.

"We'll roll the dice and have a go.

"As a trial for Breeders' Cup Classic, forgetting the surface issue, it (the Pacific Classic) was probably the best there has been.

"It wasn't flaky form, put it that way."
