Untapable Unstoppable In Cotillion Stakes

Untapable was unstoppable in the $1 million Cotillion Stakes in Philadelphia on Saturday to put her stamp on the Eclipse Award for three-year-old fillies.

Untapable rallied to win by a length under Rosie Napravnik folr her third G1 win of the year for trainer Steve Asmussen and owner Ron Winchell.

"To me this wins solidifies the Eclipse," said Winchell. "She dug in and it was good to get it done.”

Untapable was bouncing back from a fifth against the colts in the G1 Haskell Invitational, her only loss in her last six starts.

"I was extremely pleased to have her back where we feel she belongs," Asmussen said.

"I think a lot of little things added up to the Haskell not being her day. I was very proud that she came out of a tough race like that to win a Grade 1.

"She gives you a tremendous amount of confidence.”

Asmussen confirmed Cotillion would be flown to California within 24 hours to begin her preparation at Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup Distaff.

The victory increased Untapable's career earnings to $1,896,725 from seven wins in 10 starts.

The Cotillion was the third G1 victory this year for the daughter of Tapit who was bred by Winchell, having previously won the Kentucky Oaks and Mother Goose Stakes.
